Sustainable Development in Northern India
Cultivating small-holdings to grow vegetables, fruit tree plantations and herb gardens, The aim is for the land to be worked in collaboration with local families.
The Organic Farming program focuses on many aspects of small-scale organic farming. Some of these focus areas are: vertical gardening, house/kitchen gardens, herbal and floral cultivation, organic seed creation and storage, mushroom cultivation and organic composting and fertilizer production.
Our Sustainable Agriculture project focuses on community gardens within the local communities that we work with, and educational efforts to improve the sustainability of food production in these local communities. The environmentally sustainable techniques that we wish to promote include:
– Organic growing
– Rainwater harvesting
– Permaculture and vertical growing
– Natural and integrated pest control
– Seed saving
– Mushroom cultivation
Currently our efforts are focused on organic growing and composting.
